AB-PMJAY, GJAY Cards Rolled Out for Odisha

On dated April 11 2025: In a landmark step to strengthen healthcare delivery in Odisha, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, and the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, jointly launched the co-branded health cards under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY) at an event held in Bhubaneswar.

 

The launch marks the convergence of the Centre’s flagship health protection scheme and the Odisha state government’s own initiative, creating a unified health identity card for beneficiaries. The co-branded cards will allow eligible citizens to avail cashless treatment of up to ₹5 lakh per family per year at empanelled government and private hospitals both within and outside the state.

 

Speaking at the event, Union Minister JP Nadda lauded the partnership between the Centre and the Odisha government, stating:

“Today’s launch of the co-branded Ayushman Bharat–Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana card is a major milestone in India’s march toward Universal Health Coverage. It is a shining example of Centre-State cooperation aimed at strengthening our healthcare ecosystem and ensuring no citizen is left behind.”

 

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed his government’s commitment to welfare-driven governance, saying:

“This partnership will provide a powerful safety net for the poor and vulnerable. We are working to ensure that every household in Odisha has access to quality, affordable, and timely healthcare services.”

 

Several beneficiaries received the co-branded cards during the launch, symbolizing the start of a wider distribution campaign across the state. The event was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the National Health Authority (NHA), and Odisha’s Department of Health and Family Welfare.
