TDB Backs Indigenous Trenching Tech

Govt, News

In a significant boost to India’s indigenous technological capabilities in the infrastructure and construction sector, the Technology Development Board (TDB) under the Department of Science and Technology (DST) has extended support to M/s Autocracy Machinery, a startup focused on trenching solutions. The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) by encouraging the development and commercialization of advanced homegrown technologies.

M/s Autocracy Machinery has successfully developed a high-performance indigenous trenching machine designed for a wide range of applications, including laying cables, pipelines, irrigation channels, and fiber optic lines. Traditionally, India has depended heavily on imported trenching machinery, which often proved cost-prohibitive and less suited to Indian terrain and project conditions.

The company’s innovative chain-type trenching technology, featuring customized cutting tools and adaptive depth control, promises improved operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and reduced environmental disruption. The support from TDB will assist in scaling up production and refining the technology for commercial deployment across the country.

Speaking on the development, a TDB official noted, “The project by Autocracy Machinery exemplifies the kind of innovation we aim to support—where a critical infrastructure need is addressed with indigenous research, robust engineering, and scalability potential.”

The trenching technology has already undergone field trials across different geographies and soil types in India, demonstrating its versatility and performance advantages over conventional methods like manual digging or backhoe excavation.
