India gets its largest automobile logistics hub in Manesar, Haryana
This sprawling 46‑acre hub is part of the first phase of the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor (HORC), featuring a 6.9 km rail link to Northern Railway’s Patli station and onward access to the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor. Equipped with four loading tracks and an engine escape line totaling 8.2 km, it can handle up to 450,000 cars annually, significantly alleviating road congestion and vehicle emissions.
During the ceremony, the inaugural rake—loaded with 276 Maruti cars bound for Nagpur—was flagged off. Maruti Suzuki’s MD–CEO, Hisashi Takeuchi, emphasized the facility’s environmental impact: at full capacity, it would save 60 million liters of fuel and cut 175,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year. Maruti aims to transport 35% of its vehicles by rail by FY 2030–31 (up from ~24% currently). Total investment: ₹452 crore—₹325 crore in corridor infrastructure and ₹127 crore in railyard development.
