TDP MP Chintakayala Vijay Raises Concern Over Delays in Special CBI Courts During Rajya Sabha Debate
A heated scene was witnessed in the Rajya Sabha during the discussion on the Supreme Court Amendment Bill when Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP Chintakayala Vijay raised serious concerns about delays in the country’s justice system. His speech was interrupted by protests from YSRCP MPs, but he continued to present his views, urging the government to focus not only on the Supreme Court but also on the functioning of special CBI courts.
Speaking in the House, Vijay said that while reforms related to the Supreme Court are important, the government must also address the long delays in special CBI courts. He said these courts were created to ensure the speedy hearing of corruption and criminal cases, but many cases continue to remain pending for years.
The TDP MP referred to the 31 cases against the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and said that even after 13 years, there has been no significant progress in these cases. He also pointed out that eight judges have changed during this period, saying that the shortage of judges is one of the main reasons behind such long delays.
Raising a serious question in the House, Vijay asked, “If even after 13 years the discharge petition is still being heard, when will the trial begin?” He said this clearly shows how judicial vacancies and delays are affecting the delivery of justice.
Despite repeated interruptions and protests by YSRCP MPs, Chintakayala Vijay continued his speech and strongly demanded reforms in special CBI courts. He called for faster trials, greater accountability and a stronger justice system. His intervention highlighted the need for urgent action to ensure timely justice and brought attention to an issue that has remained unresolved for many years.
